Monika Bielskyte is a futurist in residency @Nike and founder of @ProtopiaFutures. From SciFi to reality, she prototypes science-informed, life-centric, joyful and embodied visions of tomorrow.
Born in the USSR, Monika witnessed the collapse of a totalitarian regime and grew up in newly liberated Lithuania, traveled/worked/researched in 100+ countries, and is currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Monika’s expertise is in the future of information technologies and platforms. Her research and talks on how fictional future narratives affect real future making – from science/tech to city design to policy – have had major industry impact. Monika’s biggest passion is the inclusion of “invisible” disabilities and neurodivergence, and the value of embodiment considerations to all successful innovation processes.
Her career in Hollywood includes futurist consultancy for Disney / Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Monika has done speaking and advisory work for BBC, DreamWorks, Google, Huawei, IDEO, L’Oreal, McKinsey, Mexico City, Meta, Microsoft, MTN, SKY, TATA ,Technicolor, Telefonica, UAE, Unesco, Universal, Warner Media, World Economic Forum, among others.
